Christmas over at last! Or is it really since we have New Year to contend with. The restaurant was fun over the Christmas season. We sold out of all our Christmas puddings and I wonder what the Turks who bought one thought of it. Frankly they were fabulous and we will do the same receipe next year. Christmas eve was totally booked out. The beef wellington gave Maya much grief as she was sure it would be undercooked but she did us proud and it turned out perfectly. I had run out and bought another cut of fillet stake hours before to make and prepare another one as we suddenly had an influx of guests and I feared we would not have enough to feed everyone. We did with some left over for me to take home. Christmas Day was quieter which suprised me since it was full last year but a nice crowd and my mum came and joined the table with those celebrating. Everyone pulled crackers. The evening sitting was packed. We just finished deciding on seating when the first guests arrived. I ran around lighting the candles quickly to create that very homely atmosphere. This was the best evening. Great company, funny people and everyone getting to know each other (or was that just me walking around and chatting). Makes me wonder how we managed to do everything we did since I still managed to meet everyone and circulate. Someone in the back round started singing a Christmas carol. I turned off the music so everyone could listen to his amazing voice. Cheers all round and since we had a little boy at one of the tables we sang 'jingle bells' for him. Boxing day was again busy with a dutch group in with their children. They took over the place and the kids ran riot. I loved it. Nothing better than seeing children enjoying themselves as I'm sure you remember that restaurants were boring when you were a child. In the evening we again had another group and several tables so we are totally exhausted. Not sure why I'm writing this now as I have a lot to do for a private office party we are catering for on Wednesday. Just finished skewering the satay and peanut sauce to go with it is to die for.
Happy New Year everyone.

CHRISTMAS
Christmas eve 2008 and Christmas day was a huge success for us and everyone who joined in. This year we are planning the same thing but this year (because of high demand) have christmas puddings available for sale. Take one home, warm it through yourself and serve ...well anytime. It doesn't really have to be Christmas. I did the shopping for the ingredients and brought back a total of 12 kilos of dried fruit. Times like this we wish we had a bathtub so as to mix up all the fruit to make the puddings. Right now we are busy injecting each pud everyother with lashings of brandy in readiness for Christmas.
This week our tree goes up with most of the decorations. Also Abby will join us to create the biscuit houses for display, which was so much fun to make last year. We are taking reservations now and only have a capacity for a maximum amount of 30 people if we all squash in.
